Telecom Italia has signed a contract with the Vatican City to build a fibre-optic network at the Holy See, Bloomberg reports. The infrastructure will be used for high-speed data and phone and video services, according to an e-mailed statement. The grid will extend for more than 400 kilometres and replace the Holy See’s current infrastructure. Telecom Italia won a three-year contract, renewable every year in the following five years, to provide design, installation and configuration services. It will also test platforms, and provide technical training, help-desk and maintenance services.
